VARADERO CUBA recorded 1,770,000 tourist in 2013 a record total representing a 11% increase on the same period last year according to the Cuban Ministry of Tourism in Cuba.

Caribbean tourism authorities said these statistics are in light during the Cuba Beaches International Tourism Convention, held in Varadero Beach Cuba which began on Monday at one of the country’s main tourist resorts, situated 150 kilometers east of Havana.

Tourism figures in 2013 represents an increase of 2% in comparison to the early months of 2012, the best period Cuba experienced since the Cuban Embargo launched in the United States.

During the Varadero Cuba meeting, attended by some 20,000 tour operators from around the world, 1100 of which have come from 96 different countries including the United States, the committee organizer commented that the numbers are important in the leading area of a peaceful, healthy and safe tourism experience.

According to leaders in vacation beach resorts leisure industry, Cuba represents the most attractive market for the world including the United States, but the laws of the  U.S. are starting to allow American citizens to vacation to Cuba island without a special permit from Washington.

Many big U.S Movie stars and performers like Beyonce, Jay-Zee, PitBull, Enrique Igleasias and more have all been to Cuba and Varadero Beach for Holidays.

Nevertheless there is a massive uplifting in the numbers of U.S. tourists in Cuba via third countries like Canada & Mexico currently calculated at more than 200,000 annually.

Varadero Cuba- Worldwide Teen pop star Justin Bieber smoked a huge Cuban Cigar while on vacation in Havana Cuba. Cuban officials say Justin stayed at the exclusive Hotel Nacional  de Cuba with his family and friends and went site seeing like a tourist to all of the famous Cuban hotels and night clubs to listen and dance to that hot Cuban Salsa beat.

Justin Bieber flew into Varadero Beach from Toronto and was hanging out in Cuba for a few days to catch some rays on the beach to dance salsa and party all night with the hot Cuban women before his new USA tour.

He is not barred from Cuba Travel because as a Canadian born citizen he does not fall under American anti-Cuba laws. Justin Bieber said he went to Cuba after Beyonce and JayZee controversial vacation last year to the mysterious island.

Justin went to all the top Cuban night clubs including the world Famous Mafia owned Tropicana Cabaret and the smoking hot Pariesien night club as well as "El Jibe" Cuban restaurant and then to La Floridita for Cuban Mojitos with Ernest Hemingway invented the now infamous Cuban drink " the daiquiri".

Bieber reported spent a lot of money while he partied in Cuba but nothing close to the $75,000 he blew in just one night on a stripper at a strip club in Miami, Florida.

Justin Bieber has been telling the entire world on Twitter and Facebook that he is in Havana Cuba and Loves Cubans. The teenage star posted a picture of a tattooed singer puffing on a cigar in Cuba on his Instagram, stating "I'm in Cuba & I love Cubans."

The Real Varadero Cuba

Given that Varadero’s present population of 20,000 is twice what it was in 1990, and there are at least 60 resorts, it is definitely not the sleepy little resort town it was in earlier times.

In 1910, the filthy rich Iturrioz family developed an estate on the grounds of what today is Varadero’s Josone Park. It is said that the patriarch of the family so valued his privacy that he had a tunnel built from his property to the beach about a block away, and when he wished to swim, sent servants ahead to shoo everyone else away. He wanted privacy and so did other wealthy families who bought beach properties in and around Varadero. With at least 20 kilometres of pristine white sand beach, there was room for all of them to have privacy, even after 1931 when someone thought to build a hotel. Cuba’s native bourgeoisie, plus wealthy Americans (who by then controlled most of the island’s resources) continued to vacation in Varadero. Among those who built elegant residences on beachfront properties were: Irenee Dupont who during World War I had earned a fortune by the manufacture of munitions; Al Capone who earned his in a less legal but equally reprehensible way; and Cuba’s dictator Fulgencio Batista, who combined the unsavoury qualities of both those men to acquire his wealth.

It was about then that 400-year-old Varadero underwent a 30-year period that could fairly be called un-Cuban. Between 1929 and 1959, Cubans were banned from Varadero unless they owned property on the peninsula or were servants or guests of someone who did. The Revolution, of course, put an end to that nonsense.

One of the first things the Castro government did when it took power in 1959 was to open all Cuban beaches to all Cubans. The wealthy fled and their properties were confiscated. Al Capone’s “cottage” became a restaurant. Dupont’s Spanish Renaissance mansion, Xanadú, became a six-room guest house with restaurant, bar, and adjacent golf course. Batista’s compound, Cuatro Palmas, was first used to by the Revolutionary government to house young people being trained as teachers to be sent into the countryside to eradicate illiteracy and later recycled as a beachfront resort—one of the few right in town. Once again Varadero had become wholly Cuban.

But not for the rich alone because under the new regime there weren’t supposed to be any rich Cubans. La Vanguardia (model workers) were given government-paid vacations at the Cuban-owned resorts. About the only foreigners one saw in Varadero in those days were a few white-bodied Russian advisors who had driven from Havana in their government-issue Lada. On my first visit to Varadero in 1997, I stayed not in a hotel but in a campismo (Cuba’s version of a campground). That beach, as beautiful as any I have ever seen, swarmed with Cuban teenagers who had been bussed there by their school and were lodged, for free, in little on-the-beach A-frames.

Recently we spent an incredible month in Cuba, going between stunning Varadero beach and historic Havana.

 After building many new hotels in the late '90s, Varadero now rivals Havana and the rest of the carribbean as Cuba's #1 Hot spot and top tourist attraction.
