VARADERO BEACH PGA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP IN CUBA
Varadero Beach. Golf in Cuba has become so popular that the PGA Golf event the "Fourth Montecristo Golf Cup" has been set for March 19-2. This prestigous world class PGA event will be hosted at the Varadero Golf Course in the Varadero Beach tourist resort in the central Cuban province of Matanzas which is only 60 minute drive from Havana.
The organizing members of this PGA Golf event, which was first held in 2009, announced that the Golf Championship will now allow the participation of many new amateur players from several countries like Cuba. Golfing champion and VP of the PGA Varadero organizing committee, Guillermo Gutierrez stated that this championship will include all 3 categories namely two in men’s class and one in women’s.
The Pro Golfers will try to take advantage of the closeness to the professional golfers that play in the prestigous U.S. Open which is the second biggest golf tournament of the pro golf season to attract renowned players that could come from the USA.

Even though its been over 50 years, the U.S. economic blockade of Cuba still prevents open participation of most American pro golf experts in this Vardero Golf Championship. Last year only one pro golf champion out of a possible 32 players who expressed their interest were able to travel to Cuba through a third nation.
This year the Varadero Golf Championship committe has taken the step to invite and accomodate as many Professional American Golfers as possibe to ensure a strong competative feild of Golfers. Varadero will host teh event and allow plenty of time for the Pros to relax on its finest Cuban beaches so tehy can sip on their Cuban Havana Club Mojitos and enjoy the Golfing in Cuba.
